Viator affiliate program

For destination/itinerary publishers helping readers choose tours and activities. Assess supplied-product-data non-indexing/modification limits, owned-channel/brand permissions and broad contractual non-disparagement before participation. Separate suppliers deliver experiences; no quality, booking, integration or payout test.1,2,3

Is Viator a fit for your travel site?

Consider Viator for destination guides and itineraries that help readers choose tours and activities. Separate suppliers provide the experiences; Viator facilitates bookings and handles payment under the applicable terms.1,2

The useful editorial job is deciding which experience fits a trip. These are content ideas, not tested conversion strategies:

Is Viator a fit for your travel site?
Reader decisionUseful content to create
Guided tour or independent visit?Compare the itinerary, time commitment and what a guide adds.
Which activity fits the day?Explain location, meeting time, transport and included extras.
What if plans change?Compare the actual listing's cancellation and change conditions.

Check the content license before planning an SEO integration. The linked agreement requires Viator-provided Travel Product Information to be non-indexable and restricts modifying it without consent. This defined licensed material is different from independently written editorial content.4

What the commission covers

What the commission covers
TermWhat to know
Advertised direct rate8% on eligible completed experience bookings. The agreement says your account specifies the actual Commission Rate.1,4
Calculation baseAgreement: retail rate received by Viator, net cancellations and partial/full refunds. Exact tax, fee and other deductions remain unconfirmed.4
Attribution window30 days, subject to tracking and return-visit exclusions. Another arrival click or an earlier distribution-partner entitlement can defeat credit.4
PaymentFAQ: bank monthly with $50 minimum; PayPal weekly without a minimum. Agreement: month after the experience, with US$50 threshold. The PayPal difference needs confirmation.1,4
Second-tier rewardsUnknown. The ordinary publisher sources reviewed do not establish a recruitment override rate, base or duration.1,4

This is a direct, per-booking commission model. A booking is not cash earned at the click, and these public terms are not an accepted Affiliate Orchard offer.1,4

From recommendation to payment

  1. Create the link

Use links issued for your own account. Viator's link guidance includes product and destination deep links with account-specific parameters; we have not tested the tools.3

  2. Qualify the booking

The agreement expressly allows eligible return purchases within 30 days. Deleted/refused cookies or untracked returns exclude credit. A return via another site, search engine, social site, ad or link can also exclude it; earlier distribution-partner rights may take priority.4

  3. Complete the experience

The experience must be completed; cancellations and refunds affect commission. This is separate from the date a traveler books.1,4

  4. Confirm and receive payment

Supply complete payment details. Confirm your method's schedule and threshold rather than assuming the PayPal FAQ overrides the linked agreement.4,1

Hypothetical content example: for a three-day city itinerary, compare a guided walking tour with an independent route. Explain who each suits, the time each consumes and the practical booking checks. Put a relevant activity link beside that decision. This is a publishing exercise, not a tested itinerary or earnings forecast.

Check these content rules first

  • Supplied content has limits. The agreement restricts systematic extraction of marketplace information, including reviews, and copying the marketplace. Obtain the required consent before altering licensed product information; assess any widget or feed against the non-indexing requirement.4
  • Placement and branding are conditional. Affiliate links belong on your owned and operated website, channel, platform or application. Brand-related domains, brand bidding and ad hijacking are restricted; proposed use of names, logos and marks requires prior written consent.4
  • Independent publishers should assess the contract. It includes a broad non-disparagement obligation judged in Viator's sole opinion, alongside bans on misleading deals and price/availability claims. That is a material participation tradeoff; we are not assessing enforceability.4

Our advice: build original decision-making content and assess the license before adding supplied product data. Do not assume affiliate enrollment gives permission to republish indexable listings or reviews.

Help travelers compare the actual experience

  • Read inclusions and exclusions. Suppliers set inclusions; unlisted extras and some local taxes or fees may be additional.2
  • Check meeting arrangements. Some details arrive after booking. Missing the communicated meeting time can result in a non-refundable no-show.2
  • Use the listing's cancellation policy. The standard policy has a 24-hour cutoff for experiences with a start time, but other policies and non-refundable All Sales Final products exist. The actual listing controls; do not promise universal free cancellation.2

Before joining

Full publisher-country eligibility, commissionable customer regions, settlement currencies/fees and cross-device recovery remain unconfirmed. The programme markets links, widgets and banners; API access is discretionary under the agreement.1,4

Do not treat the FAQ's non-expiring commission language as unconditional: termination stops new qualifying reservations, and breach-related termination can forfeit otherwise payable fees.1,4

Next, read the official programme and the terms linked from its public affiliate signup page. Compare those conditions with your planned pages using the programme-selection lesson. Read networks versus direct programmes before assuming a network or API offer has the same terms.

Sources and open questions

Official sources checked October 7, 2026: programme FAQs, public signup, the linked agreement's General and Affiliate B terms, link-creation guidance, and customer terms sections 10–16. Customer terms show November 30, 2025 as their last-updated date; no reliable agreement version date was established.1,5,4,3,2

Confirm the accepted account rate/base, PayPal schedule, geographic eligibility, licensed-content implementation and branding permissions before relying on them. Agent-program and separately negotiated API arrangements are outside this profile. No application, booking, integration or payout test was performed.
