2%–4.5%
2% forums/meta-networks; 3.5% websites/magazines; 4.5% creators. Merchant assigns class and admission; individual offers can differ.
Completed net sales; full base/products Unknown. Minimums: 500 daily website visitors or 5,000 social followers. Accepted traffic versions and cash timing matter.2,3,4On this page
Thomann is worth evaluating if your audience needs help choosing instruments or recording equipment. Its affiliate program advertises 2%–4.5% commission depending on publisher class. A website is advertised at 3.5%; 4.5% is the creator rate, subject to admission and classification.2,3,4
The main tradeoff: this is an established program with public economics, but its linked documents disagree about permitted traffic. Confirm your accepted terms before building a newsletter, price-comparison or coupon strategy around it.5,6,4
Rates and audience requirements
| Publisher class | Advertised own-sale rate | Condition to check |
|---|---|---|
| Forums and meta-networks | 2% | A publisher category, not a recruited-affiliate reward.2,4 |
| Websites and magazines | 3.5% | Public website minimum: 500 unique visitors daily.2,5 |
| Creators | 4.5% | Public social-channel minimum: 5,000 followers.2,5 |
Meeting a minimum does not guarantee approval. The March 2025 participation terms require commercial or self-employed participation by legal entities or natural persons with full legal capacity; Thomann can request identity/business evidence, change your classification or decline admission. An individually agreed commission excludes standard remuneration and promotional bonuses.4
Calculation base: incomplete. Those terms pay only completed net sales, once per valid sale, with cancellations adjusted before settlement. They do not fully define eligible products or the deductions from which your percentage is calculated. Do not multiply the whole checkout total by the headline rate.4
Second-tier commissions: Unknown. The reviewed sources establish commissions on your referred product sales, not an override on another affiliate’s sales. No ongoing subscription commission is established either.2,3,4
From click to payment
- Deliberate click
The terms require visible, supplied affiliate advertising and a conscious visitor click; automatic cookie placement is excluded.4
- Completed sale
Net completed sales qualify; partial/full cancellations are adjusted. Validation duration and other holds are not specified.4
- Cash threshold
At least €50 net in accumulated commission entitlement triggers payment at the end of the next month, not immediately on reaching €50.4
Below €50 after the third consecutive month, accumulated commission can be paid on written/email request. At termination, outstanding confirmed commissions are payable regardless of amount. Stored bank details or a PayPal address are required for automatic payment; international transfer fees are deducted. Full fees, currency conversion, country/method availability and actual receipt timing remain unconfirmed. Suspected fraud or rule violations can prevent payment.4
Check the traffic rules before applying
The signup links both a March 6, 2024 policy and participation terms marked March 4, 2025. Their differences are material:5,6,4
| Method | 2024 policy | 2025 participation terms |
|---|---|---|
| Newsletters | Listed as improper practice | Independently built email newsletters allowed |
| Price comparison | Listed as improper practice | Listed as allowed |
| Coupon/cashback sites | Listed as improper practice | Restricted admission |
Both columns describe public documents, not permission for your account. Get written confirmation of the applicable version and your exact model.6,4
Paid search is prohibited in the 2025 table; Facebook Ads, adware, cookie dropping and automatic redirects are excluded. Post-view and retargeting clauses also differ between exclusions and prior-approval wording. The scope of the excluded “direct linking” phrase is unclear beside the program’s special-link promotion. Treat these as unresolved permissions.4,2
The 2024 policy also links August 2014 general terms containing a €10,000 contractual penalty per culpable advertising-rule or unsolicited-email violation. Whether that version/clause applies to a new account is unconfirmed; establish the accepted document set before consenting.6,7
Use only merchant assets expressly supplied for affiliate promotion; the 2025 terms prohibit copying other merchant-site/social content or editing supplied images. Keep network product data current. Either party may terminate without notice: remove ads and affiliate links immediately, delete provided assets/copies within five days and confirm deletion in writing. Changes have two weeks’ advance notice and a six-week written-objection provision.4
Worked example: a home-piano buying page
Hypothetical reader: someone choosing a digital piano for a small home practice space. Start with their requirements; consider keeping a suitable existing instrument, renting, or buying used/local before proposing a new purchase.
A real listing—the Yamaha P-145 B BT, item 613589—shows why a useful page needs more than a retailer link:1
| Requirement | Listing evidence | Question your page should answer |
|---|---|---|
| Keys and listening | 88 weighted keys, built-in speakers, 6.3 mm headphone output | Does the reader need quiet practice, headphones or an adapter? |
| Pedals and support | Sustain pedal and sheet-music holder included; LP-5A pedal unit excluded | Is the included pedal sufficient? Which stand and seat suit the space? |
| Power and devices | PA-150B external 12V/1.5A supply included; USB MIDI/audio listed | Verify the exact adapter input/plug and device/app connections before recommending a setup. |
These are merchant specifications, not our playing, sound, electrical or compatibility tests. The adapter’s output specification alone does not establish compatibility with the buyer’s mains supply.1
Compare the whole setup and return logistics, not a temporary sticker price. Shipping depends on country and parcel; customs, handling or oversized items can affect cost/time. Non-EU buyers may face import charges. Confirm destination/item requirements without presenting a tax forecast or guaranteed delivery date.8,9,10
Customer conditions that affect the recommendation
30-day returns have exceptions. Custom goods, wear/consumable and hygiene items, and some opened/registered software are excluded. Follow the return process and packaging/condition requirements. The business terms distinguish the first 14-day statutory period from the additional 16-day merchant policy; returning part of a bundle can reprice the retained items.11,12,10
Return postage is geographically conditional—and the documents differ. The FAQ/help advertise free returns from the EU, UK, Switzerland and Norway; other non-EU customers pay. The undated business terms more broadly exclude foreign return costs under the extended policy. Confirm the applicable route and period before calling a return free; those merchant statements do not determine every buyer’s statutory rights.12,11,10
The three-year guarantee is narrower than “everything covered.” The business terms limit it to consumers and proven material/manufacturing defects. Used gear, wear, specified computer accessories, modifications and improper use are among the exclusions. It supplements statutory warranty rights rather than replacing them.10
The program also advertises test equipment on request, conditioned on reach, conversions, brand and availability. That is not a guaranteed gift or evidence we tested the gear.3
