On this page
GameFly is worth considering for publishers helping readers choose between renting physical games or movies and buying selected products. Its affiliate invitation advertises separate rewards for new-customer trial/prepaid signups and specified purchases. Your accepted offer, tracking window and cash timetable still need confirmation.1,5
Our fit assessment: explain the whole borrowing decision: the reader's hardware, available titles, ongoing membership cost and return commitments. A signup-focused page that skips those conditions is less useful than a clear rent-versus-buy comparison.
Two rewards, different qualifying actions
| Action | Public offer | Important limits |
|---|---|---|
| Refer a new trial or prepaid subscriber | At least $5 per signup | The merchant specifies new customers; its linked CJ page says trial rewards depend on successful registration. Accepted validation and reversal rules remain Unknown.1,5 |
| Qualify for a higher signup rate | Up to $15 | The merchant reserves higher rates for well-established affiliates. This is a ceiling, not everyone's starting reward; thresholds are unpublished.1 |
| Refer specified purchases | 10% of total sale price | The merchant lists used games/movies, collectibles, accessories and new movies. CJ's examples are narrower. Confirm your eligible items and deductions; do not extend this to every new game or console.1,5 |
Recurring affiliate rewards and tier two: Unknown. A customer's monthly membership bill does not establish commissions on renewals. Customer signup rewards and your own purchase referrals are different from payments on sales generated by recruited affiliates.1,5
The reviewed public invitation does not supply a cookie window, complete attribution rules, payout threshold/method/calendar, or the treatment of KEEP purchases and cancellations. Obtain the applicable advertiser terms before estimating earnings.1,5
Match the offer to the reader
| Reader's task | Route to investigate | Check before recommending |
|---|---|---|
| Borrow games or movies with a compatible physical-media setup | Standard rental plan | The help page lists one-disc $19.95 or two-disc $27.95 monthly plans, plus tax. These are post-introductory rates from a schedule effective April 30, 2025; confirm the actual current offer and desired titles.2 |
| Explore selected older titles | Budget rental plan | Published $12.95 plus tax/month; selected games older than 30 days, without Member Rewards. It is not an unrestricted new-release plan.2 |
| Own a specific title | BUY, or KEEP an available rental | Nonmembers may buy. KEEP depends on a button for that title; do not promise every rental can be purchased or qualifies for affiliate credit.4,3,1 |
The trial help recommends adding at least ten released titles to the queue because demand can limit availability. That is useful context for a reader expecting one particular game immediately, rather than evidence of a guaranteed delivery date.6
Worked example: build a borrowing decision
Hypothetical publisher exercise—not a tested service review. Two readers can want the same title and need different recommendations:
| Reader | Useful question | Possible outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Wants to sample several titles and can manage mailed returns | Does the actual plan contain suitable games, and is there time for shipping and returns? | Investigate rental; explain renewal and cancellation before the signup link. |
| Wants one title permanently, or cannot use the offered physical format | Does a compatible copy already exist in their library? What does the actual purchase include? | Compare ownership, an existing copy or no purchase; avoid steering them into an unsuitable trial. |
Use this sequence for a useful page or video:
- Check format and access
Record exact hardware, title, edition and existing library. Confirm the current rental or purchase listing; do not invent compatibility or stock.
- Choose and explain
Present rental, purchase, keeping an existing copy or postponing. Explain the reader's tradeoff before discussing the publisher's reward.
Trial and prepaid memberships renew
The 30-day trial requires a valid credit/debit card and a temporary authorization; support says that authorization clears in three to five business days depending on the bank. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the card is billed the one-game monthly rate plus applicable tax.6
Prepaid memberships also begin monthly billing when their period ends unless cancelled just before then. Their terms exclude combining with free offers, limit that offer to the 50 U.S. states and DC, and deny refunds for unused prepaid time. This is customer eligibility, not a complete publisher-country list.8
Returning everything does not cancel the account. Cancellation is a separate account action, effective immediately, with no credit/refund for unused service time. Outstanding rentals must be received within a week of cancellation to avoid replacement fees. Allow for transit and confirm receipt; mailing on the last day is not the stated rule.9,7
Buying and keeping: check the exact return case
KEEP authorizes the purchase and bills when the case/manual, where applicable, ships. Its help page says paying members receive free shipping on used game/movie purchases. BUY help describes free standard shipping for active members' used titles, extra-cost faster service and standard charges for nonmembers; use the actual checkout quote.3,4
Return wording differs. BUY help calls purchases final, and KEEP help calls used purchases final. The buying policy separately provides a damaged/unplayable-item process. Confirm the applicable case with support rather than promising general change-of-mind returns.4,3,10
| Buying-policy condition | Published rule |
|---|---|
| Report damaged/unplayable goods | Notify support within 14 days of shipment and obtain an RMA; return with original packaging and included documentation.10 |
| Authorized return arrives within 30 days of shipment | Full purchase-price refund, less applicable shipping.10 |
| Arrives on days 31–60 | 80% of purchase price, less applicable shipping; no returns after 60 days.10 |
Those are customer refund conditions, not an affiliate validation or cash schedule. Shipping, gameplay, disc condition, customer service and an actual return were not tested.
Before applying
Start with the official GameFly invitation, which links to CJ's GameFly signup page. CJ says an active publisher account and acceptance of programme terms are required. Affiliate Orchard has not applied or been approved.1,5
Confirm eligible signup/purchase events, exact rate and deductions, tracking, reversals and cash rules. Ask which placements and creative assets are authorized: the website terms, updated April 30, 2026, restrict reproducing content/marks and linking/framing without permission. The reviewed invitation does not replace an accepted affiliate agreement or establish every channel's permissions.11,1,5
Use the free choose-programs lesson for your shortlist. Compare GameStop for a different retail/condition/fulfilment task, or browse the directory.
Sources and open questions
Official pages checked October 9, 2026. The plan schedule's April 2025 effective date and website terms' April 2026 update are separate from today's research date.2,11
Accepted advertiser economics, geographic/channel permissions, tracking, KEEP credit, payout and reversal terms, recurring rewards and tier two remain unconfirmed. The merchant's purchase list and CJ's narrower examples need reconciliation for the actual offer; final-sale versus damaged-item policy wording needs case-specific confirmation.1,5,4,3,10
